Day 325 - Making wishes come true

From a health perspective I'm happy to report we don't have any significant updates since the last blog entry.  Evan's cold is nearing an end, his movement improves weekly and his appetite hasn't been this hearty since before his diagnosis.  This coming week we have an appointment to meet with Evan's orthopedic surgeon and a follow-up with the oncology team to verify Evan's blood counts and Voriconazole level.

When they're not fighting, they're hugging.

On Tuesday Evan's school is having a Field Day.  The weather forecast appears amazing so I'm looking forward to some pictures of the day.  Hopefully he'll be able to participate in some of the events, but if not I'm sure he'll enjoy watching his classmates.  Cristy has volunteered to help corral the kids for the morning.

Getting some PT work in via dancing to Michael Jackson; one of Evan's favorites.

This afternoon representatives from Make-A-Wish came by our house to celebrate Evan's upcoming wish and to go over some of the details with Cristy and I.  We were blown away by their generosity and how much effort has gone into the planning of Evan's wish.  They made very clear that they wanted to exceed any expectations we may have and after hearing more I have no doubt it will.  I can't wait to see the looks on Evan and Nolan's faces.  In addition to bringing documentation for me and Cristy they served us pizza, cupcakes and lots of gifts for Evan.

Balloons, a banner and lunch.

Gifts from M-a-W.

Nolan and Lily helped Evan celebrate the day.

Another picture before eating.

The timing of their visit couldn't have been better.  Cristy and I had just recently agreed to run/walk in the Make-A-Wish 5K on May 20th.  We were hesitant because there is a fundraising component for participants and up until now it's one area we haven't tried to tackle yet.  We keep talking about paying it forward for those in need so now is the time for us to act.  Found in the links below you will find the pages for our fundraising efforts.  We have very modest goals, however I'd like to see us both overachieve if at all possible.  I feel very confident in saying that Make-A-Wish is an extremely worthwhile charity to donate to.  For anyone wishing to join us we'd love to walk as a team.  Let us know if you need more details.

Evan said it was too bright so we weren't able to get a smile.

Closing out with a few more pictures from our afternoon.

Nolan was trying to show me the Corduroy doll Evan just received.

Quality time with the kids.
